Job Summary

This position is split 1st/2nd shift, flexible with no set days, with every 5th weekend rotation. Training will be 4 weeks, split between 2 weeks on first shift and 2 weeks on second shift. Certification required.

Job Description

  • Provide excellent customer service through interactions with doctors, nurses and patients who contact the pharmacy.
  • Answering queries or directing calls to the appropriate person for resolution.
  • Processes Epic messages in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Consistently adhere to and exhibit ICARE, AIDET, and H.E.A.R.T. principles.
  • Aids the pharmacist in the dispensing of medications in a timely and accurate manner, filling medication bins, filling labels, departmental orders, and ancillary departments.
  • Ensures timely receipt and delivery of all patient medication related information and products by preparing each round and utilizing pneumatic tubing system or TUG to quickly send medications to appropriate units.
  • Participates in the Process Improvement Program and complies with all policies and procedures related to Infection Control and Safety to improve the quality of patient care and outcomes.
  • Certifies that all expiration dates for medications refilled/loaded in the Inventory Management software have been checked and stock has been rotated to ensure shortest date is used first and expired medications are removed from supply.
  • Affords assistance with daily cycle counts. Processes returns correctly while checking expiration dates before returning items to stock.
  • Enhances career development through attendance and participation in departmental meetings, educational in services, communication tools and preparation for certification exam.

Education, Credentials, Licenses

  • High School graduate or equivalent GED
  • Registered with applicable Board of Pharmacy (or obtain registration immediately after hired into position)
  • Must sit for the PTCB or the NHA Certification exam once eligibility requirements are met (i.e. once 500 hours of experience are obtained).
  • Must be actively working towards national certification and obtained within 1 year of date of hire

Specialized Knowledge

  • Experience with MS Office and other computer programs
  • Organizational skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent written and communication skills
