About the Role

We are currently seeking a Personal Trainer with experience supporting women’s strength training, women’s health, and teen fitness. Under the supervision of the Associate Director, Wellness & Recreation, the MNjcc Personal Trainers are responsible for managing and maintaining the fitness floor, assisting members, and educating them on the safe and correct use of equipment. Personal Trainers will also perform orientations/assessments, promote and sell personal training packages, conduct one-on-one and small group training sessions, and answer fitness-related questions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop safe and effective exercise programs utilizing all principles of personal training, ensuring programs align with members’ goals and needs.
  • Promote the MNjcc personal training program during scheduled orientations, tours, and fitness floor shifts.
  • Maintain and grow a client base by promoting and selling new personal training services and encouraging current clients to continue.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new programs and classes.
  • Conduct onboarding sessions for new personal trainers, as assigned.
  • Maintain up-to-date client records and track pending client appointments.
  • Follow up with leads within 24 hours or as otherwise scheduled during working hours.
  • Schedule personal training sessions separately from fitness floor shifts.
  • Maintain professionalism on the fitness floor, including adherence to food and beverage guidelines (water and/or sports drinks only).
  • Adhere to the MNjcc dress code (JCC top, black bottoms, and nametag) during all shifts and personal training sessions.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and professional development courses (staff will receive at least two months’ notice).
  • Work towards building a personal training client base, with a target of three clients within the first three months of employment.
  • After the probationary period, maintain a consistent level of personal training hours (5+ hours per week).
  • Refrain from soliciting on behalf of other businesses or personal clients while on shift or using MNjcc resources.
  • Perform essential physical duties, including lifting, carrying, moving, and positioning objects up to 45 pounds, with or without accommodation.

Qualifications

  • Personal Training certification from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., CSEP, NASM, ACE, ISSA, CanFitPro) or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary education in Fitness Promotion, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
  • Completion of 2 additional relevant courses, certifications, or areas of specialization.
  • Current and valid CPR-C with SFA + AED certification (must be maintained for the duration of employment).
  • Experience coaching women’s strength training and women’s health-focused fitness programs.
  • Experience working with youth and teen populations in a fitness or athletic setting.
  • Experience leading small group training programs and working with women across various life stages (considered an asset).
  • Additional certifications or continuing education in women’s health, pre/post-natal fitness, menopause coaching, youth fitness, or athletic development (considered an asset).
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Schedule

Part-time hourly position. Must be willing to work evenings and weekend hours. This is an in-person role requiring on-site work.

Pay

  • Up to $37.50 per hour for personal training sessions.
  • $18.50 per hour for all non-personal training work, including fitness floor shifts, assessments, and administrative duties.

Benefits
