About the role
Certified Peer Specialist - Full-Time Position.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an active member of the Recovery Support and CPS Teams.
- Use personal lived experience to model recovery and instill hope.
- Help individuals develop personalized Recovery Service Plans.
- Facilitate identification of strengths, supports, and community resources.
- Conduct regular meetings with clients, documenting progress per program standards.
- Provide education on recovery tools (e.g., WRAP), self-help, mutual support, and orientation for new participants.
- Utilize Motivational Interviewing to support behavior change and combat negative self-talk.
- Support individuals in community integration activities (social, educational, advocacy, etc.).
- Aid individuals in setting and achieving recovery goals, improving social and interpersonal functioning.
- Refer individuals to supportive services and communicate service successes or gaps to supervisors.
- Maintain CPS certification and attend required trainings.
- Safeguard confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, OSHA, fire safety, and organizational policies.
- Participate in staff meetings and promote a positive image of RHD.
- Document all services accurately and completely.
- Work primarily in the community (approx. 80% of time).
- Maintain professionalism and exercise sound judgment.
Qualifications
- Pennsylvania Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) Certification.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass Act 33 and State Police background checks.
- Self-identified current/former recipient of mental health or co-occurring services.
- At least 12 months of paid or volunteer experience within the past 3 years (one year of recent education may substitute).
