What You’ll Do

• Promote recovery principles with members, providers, and stakeholders
• Provide recovery coaching, including strengths identification, development of strength‑based recovery plans, and goal‑setting strategies
• Assist members in reconnecting with natural supports such as peer recovery groups and self‑help programs
• Schedule appointments and help members navigate mental‑health, D&A, and forensic service systems
• Facilitate access to mental‑health court, adult probation, justice‑related services, and the legal system
• Participate in treatment team and after‑care meetings as requested
• Demonstrate schedule flexibility to meet member needs
• Advocate for members’ community, medical, and behavioral‑health needs
• Maintain certification and utilize motivational interviewing to identify strengths, needs, triggers, and goals
• Bridge physical health care and behavioral health treatment
• Provide telephonic assistance to members and families regarding recovery tools and resources
• Empower members to self‑advocate, attend appointments, set goals, and network in the community
• Travel throughout the region and document/bill services using electronic health‑record software
• Work exclusively with adult clients

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Board‑certified Peer Specialist (or willingness to obtain certification within 6 months)
• Valid driver’s license and automotive insurance; reliable personal vehicle preferred
• One year of experience (mental‑health experience preferred)
• Clearances: Act 73 (FBI), Act 34 (criminal), Act 33 (child‑abuse)
• Familiarity with computers and ability to navigate documentation and billing software
• Direct, firsthand experience using mental‑health services and the forensic system in Allegheny County
