Duties Description

You would provide direct mental health services to recipients in various settings such as emergency, inpatient, outpatient, community support programs, and residential settings. You would serve as a role model for recipients, educating them about self-help techniques and self-help group process; teaching them effective coping strategies, often based on your personal experience; assisting them in clarifying their goals for rehabilitation and recovery; and helping them to develop support systems. Your tasks would focus on facilitating the development of self-help skills, support systems, coping strategies, and increasing hope and self-esteem.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Certification as a New York Certified Peer Specialist (NYCPS) by the New York Peer Specialist Certification Board (NYPSCB)
