Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist
About the Role
Battlefield Lighthouse Human Services, sponsored by VABODE, provides sober living housing and addiction recovery support services to adults. We share in the 30-year heritage of our non-profit organization, Christian Soldiers Charities and Missions, and strive to help those affected by mental health challenges resulting in poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, and emotional and behavioral needs. Our mission is to demonstrate the love of God at the forefront of our behavioral health, human services, outreach, and evangelism efforts.
This role involves monitoring guests, identifying safety concerns, notifying safety personnel, and assisting with household management. The team member will occasionally work with clients in emotionally charged situations and must maintain composure while identifying the appropriate staff member to assist in stabilization during crises.
Responsibilities
- Provide awake supervision and monitor the environment for safety and security in a low-intensity residential treatment facility.
- Communicate and consult with program staff regarding clients’ conditions and functioning.
- Respond to crises and emergencies.
- Provide counseling and support to individuals in recovery.
- Perform routine facility maintenance tasks and other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with mental health and/or chemical addiction issues.
- High School diploma or equivalent GED or Bachelor’s Degree in human services.
- Certified Peer Recovery Certification or Certified Substance Abuse Counselor credential issued by the Department of Health Professionals.
