Certified Patient Care Technician - PCU, Nights

About the role

Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture. Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies. Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Follows prescribed isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of protective equipment, performs handwashing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills continuously.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Auxiliaries in the delivery of patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policy.
• Assists in obtaining a nursing history and reports abnormalities to the registered nurse.
• Auxiliaries in identifying patient needs.

Requirements

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• 1+ applicable PCT experience [Preferred]
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience [Preferred]

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) [Required]
• Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) [Required]
• Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT) [Required]

Skills

• Desire to learn and upgrade skills continuously.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Ability to assist in patient care under the direction of a registered nurse.
