Description
This role involves providing essential orientation and mobility services to students with visual impairments, including those with additional challenges, at an educational institution in Philadelphia, PA. The position is contract to perm, requiring onsite presence, and involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to enhance students' independence and confidence in various environments.
Responsibilities
- Provide orientation and mobility services to students in various educational programs.
- Collaborate with educational teams including teachers, therapists, and parents.
- Complete evaluations focusing on students' long and short-term needs.
- Develop measurable annual goals and short-term objectives for students.
- Instruct students in skills for independent travel in familiar and unfamiliar environments.
- Prepare and use appropriate equipment and materials for instruction.
- Maintain detailed records on evaluations, progress reports, and service notes.
Qualifications
- Certified by ACVREP or NOMC.
- Operational knowledge of accessible mainstream technologies.
- Experience providing instruction to students with multiple disabilities.
- Experience with low vision aids.
- Current Driver's License.
- Basic computer skills.
- 1-3 years of experience with special needs and/or visually impaired populations preferred.
