Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, Per Diem

About the role

Under the general supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist and according to standards of treatment, assists with objective assessments as well as comprehensive individualized treatment programs for patients of all age ranges, following departmental policies and procedures. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient upon direction from a licensed Occupational Therapist (O.T.R./L.) and according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Document the course of patient care, including progress notes and the continuing need for treatment, following departmental policy.
• Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimes, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies and standards of treatment care.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient according to policies regarding documentation and charges.
• Participate in promoting education within the department.
• Demonstrate knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Perform miscellaneous job duties as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program.
• Current license for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligible for licensure in the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.

One year of experience is preferred but new graduates will be considered.
