About the role

The Occupational Therapy Department on the Manhattan campus is seeking a full time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (C.O.T.A.) to join our team. The location for this role is the Upper West Side of Manhattan. This position is needed for coverage and weekend work.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out occupational therapy interventions according to the established plan of care.
  • Assist residents in improving self-care, functional mobility, upper extremity function, cognition, strengthening and safety awareness.
  • Document treatment sessions, patient progress, and communication with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Report changes in resident status to the supervising OT.
  • Participate in care conferences and discharge planning as assigned.
  • Provide therapeutic activities to improve resident/patient ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Train patients in use of adaptive equipment and assistive devices.
  • Observe, document, and report patient progress and responses to treatment.
  • Contribute to evaluations by gathering data, reporting observations, and administering assessments delegated by the OT.
  • Educate patients, families and caregivers regarding treatment programs and safety.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, facility and New York State regulations.
  • Maintain patient safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications

  • Current New York State Occupational Therapy Assistant License/Authorization.
  • NBCOT certification preferred.
  • Experience in skilled nursing rehabilitation, or long-term care preferred.
  • Knowledge of Medicare Part A and Part B documentation requirements, productivity standards, supervision requirements, and responsibilities related to PDPM and skilled documentation.
