Responsibilities
- Implement treatment plans as developed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Absorb patients with therapeutic exercises, activities, and functional tasks.
- Monitor and document patient progress, including physical and emotional responses to therapy.
- Educate patients and their families on strategies to improve daily functioning and independence.
- Participate in patient evaluations and assessments, providing relevant input to the Occupational Therapist.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, progress, and any changes in condition.
- Ensure compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and professional standards.
- Work closely with the Occupational Therapist and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding treatment plans and progress.
- Attend and contribute to team meetings and case conferences as needed.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients.
- Follow facility procedures for handling equipment and materials used in therapy.
- Stay updated with continuing education and professional development to maintain licensure and enhance clinical skills.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Current state licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Experience: Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar setting preferred, but not required.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a team. Excellent organizational and time management abilities. Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care.
