Responsibilities

  • Assure the quality of patient care and treatment programs by providing hands-on assessment, treatment, and direction to subordinate staff.
  • Assist patients preparing for therapy and return trips, including dressing, undressing, and managing braces, supportive equipment, prostheses, or crutches.
  • Implement patient plan of care and goals using appropriate COTA skills.
  • Actively listen to patient and family concerns when modifying treatment plans.
  • Provide patient care during scheduled hours as assigned by a supervisor.
  • Educate and motivate patients and families to learn and improve functional activities.
  • Document progress, home programs, and other required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Clean and prepare equipment for therapy sessions.
  • Assist patients in tracking counting exercises.
  • Straighten and clean rooms.
  • Perform administrative duties.
  • Measure and track range of motion.
  • Record data progress during therapy sessions.
  • Confer with other staff members to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment plans.
  • Maintain patient and family confidentiality at all times.
  • Participate in continuing education activities and obtain required contact hours.
  • Adhere to CNRS policies, including safety processes and regulatory standards.
  • Demonstrate positive rapport with staff members and sound judgment in actions regarding concerns.
  • Take direction and initiate cross-functional duties to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in the state of Iowa.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of the job.

Physical Demands

  • Physical activity including walking, standing, and sitting.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
