Responsibilities
- Assure the quality of patient care and treatment programs by providing hands-on assessment, treatment, and direction to subordinate staff.
- Assist patients preparing for therapy and return trips, including dressing, undressing, and managing braces, supportive equipment, prostheses, or crutches.
- Implement patient plan of care and goals using appropriate COTA skills.
- Actively listen to patient and family concerns when modifying treatment plans.
- Provide patient care during scheduled hours as assigned by a supervisor.
- Educate and motivate patients and families to learn and improve functional activities.
- Document progress, home programs, and other required documentation in a timely manner.
- Clean and prepare equipment for therapy sessions.
- Assist patients in tracking counting exercises.
- Straighten and clean rooms.
- Perform administrative duties.
- Measure and track range of motion.
- Record data progress during therapy sessions.
- Confer with other staff members to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment plans.
- Maintain patient and family confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in continuing education activities and obtain required contact hours.
- Adhere to CNRS policies, including safety processes and regulatory standards.
- Demonstrate positive rapport with staff members and sound judgment in actions regarding concerns.
- Take direction and initiate cross-functional duties to ensure seamless patient care.
- Perform additional job duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be licensed as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in the state of Iowa.
- Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of the job.
Physical Demands
- Physical activity including walking, standing, and sitting.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
