Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Applies skills learned during academic training, educational programs, and practical experience to treat patient/family needs
  • Demonstrates competency in implementation of treatment plans. Documents appropriately.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of plan and modifies as indicated, following consulting the Occupational Therapist
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills when interacting with families, physicians, patients and others involved in a patient's care to promote an environment of cooperation and respect
  • Provides appropriate information at meetings such as team and family conferences, home health conferences, rehab clinic meetings and others as necessary
  • Maintains current knowledge of therapy techniques appropriate to the patients at Gottsche Rehab Center through the attendance of in-service classes and the appropriate amount of continuing education as required by state licensure
  • Aids in appropriate treatments or portions thereof, assesses the accuracy, thoroughness and appropriateness of the care they provide and then provide feedback to the Department Head
  • Sets necessary information and input from staff, physicians and other health care professionals to ensure ongoing appropriate patient care
  • Has knowledge in the use of therapy devices including exercise tables, fitness equipment, assistive devices, wheelchairs, pulleys, weights and other equipment common to the practice of physical therapy
  • Demonstrates an awareness of safety in all aspects of patient care
  • Performs other duties related to the position as needed

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Currently certified in the State of Wyoming or eligible for certification
  • Certified in CPR
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and excellent computer skills
  • Exceptional ability to work with employees under fast-paced working conditions
  • Must meet all requirements of Gottsche's automobile insurance carrier
  • Ability to attend educational training and seminars
