Certified Nursing Asst/Patient Care Tech-Medical/Telemetry

Overview

UnityPoint-St. Luke's is seeking part-time Nursing Assistants/Patient Care Techs to join our dynamic team. No experience is required—training will be provided. This role involves assisting in patient care across all nursing areas, including helping patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), transporting patients, documenting care, and observing patients for safety and condition changes.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with ADLs according to hospital procedures; reports all abnormal findings and changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse in charge.
• Assists with ambulation of patients and uses assistive devices as appropriate to protect both patient and staff.
• Restocks rooms and maintains a safe and clean environment.
• Follows all established infection control policies and recognizes role in providing patient safety.
• Documents vital signs, weights, activity, intake and outputs, and ADL care given to patients in the computer system.

Requirements

• Actively enrolled in high school or an equivalent program with a current CNA certification, or a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology is preferred.
• Ability to move and lift patients and use appropriate equipment.
• Effective communication and documentation skills (verbal, non-verbal, and written).
• Strong interpersonal relationship and communication skills.

Schedule

Part-time, 0.3 FTE (hours per pay period). Shifts available: 7:00 AM–3:00 PM or 3:00 PM–11:00 PM.
