How you make a difference

The Certified Nursing Assistant performs basic and specialized nursing care functions under the supervision of licensed nurses, adhering to local and regulatory policies to ensure proper patient care. They collaborate with healthcare team members and correctional officers to plan and implement patient care activities in a correctional setting. After orientation, they may float between medical-surgical and psychiatric units to ensure adequate staffing.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic nursing care to patients under the direction of a licensed nurse, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), vital sign measurement, and accurate documentation of patient data.
• Maintains professional behavior and prioritizes workflow to complete assigned duties while adhering to policies, procedures, and promoting patient safety and confidentiality.
• Collaborates with healthcare team members, participates in staff meetings and training sessions, and notifies the licensed nurse of any patient concerns or issues.
• Demonstrates basic knowledge of nursing procedures and proficiently uses medical supplies and equipment, ensuring proper storage and cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising nurse, such as assisting with patient care in different units and participating in the orientation of new staff members.

Qualifications & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a training course for Nursing Assistants.
• Basic knowledge of patient care methods, procedures, and techniques.
• Ability to handle routine tasks and maintain an orderly workflow.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen.
• Must pass and maintain clearance for a Public Trust Position, if working with specific patients.
• Ability to express thoughts logically in English, both written and verbally.
• Proficiency with computers and typical software such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and various database systems.
• Current certification in the state of practice is required.
• This position is available only to those who reside in the United States.
