Certified Nursing Assistant - Oncology Palliative Medical Surgical Telemetry, Full Time, Nights

Major Job Functions

• Affords assistance during patient admissions, including orientation to the unit, hospital routines, and patient care equipment.
• Provides direct patient care when possible, or reports patient needs to the appropriate personnel.
• Carries out delegated patient care tasks as part of implementing the nursing plan of care.
• Maintains patient safety by ensuring proper use of equipment and supplies.
• Accesses medication/supply room to obtain patient care items.
• Ensures a clean and well-stocked patient environment.
• Engages in cost containment efforts and accurately charges for patient services.
• Participates in educational and performance improvement activities.
• Keeps up to date on 4 of NAII skills per unit competency.
• Performs waived testing per unit competency.
• Displays responsibility towards customer satisfaction, patient throughput, and hospital functional capacity.
• Complies with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP).

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Nursing Assistant certification required.
• Current registration with North Carolina Division of Facility Services.

• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Excellent guest relations skills.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility in approach to work tasks and schedules.
• Ability to learn and apply new skills and techniques.
• Basic knowledge of age-specific considerations for patients served.
• Basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work variable shifts.
• Strength to turn and lift patients.
• Long periods of standing, walking, and bending.
• Visual and auditory acuity for observing patients.
• Exposure to blood and body secretions, and potential for skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials.
• Able to lift 35 pounds.
