CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT - DAY SHIFT 12-hour shifts with every other weekend off (6:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.) Job Location: Arizona State Veterans Home - Yuma 6051 East 34th Street Yuma, Arizona 85365 Posting Details Salary: Up To $20.027 hourly (DOE) This position may be eligible for a $5,000 hiring incentive Eligible weekend shifts receive supplemental pay at 10% of base pay Grade: 12 Closing Date: August 11, 2026 Job Summary This position may be eligible for a $5,000 hiring incentive! Your Contribution Outstanding Service: Provide the highest quality of care to veterans Continuous Improvement: Participate in facility meetings, training sessions, and the implementation of the Arizona Management System (AMS) to achieve continuous improvement and efficiency Team Collaboration: Work with other professionals to improve your knowledge, skills, and abilities Job Duties Assists Veterans/Members with transfers, ambulation, eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, personal hygiene and other ADLsFollows instructions to use simple procedures and devices to strengthen Veterans'/Members' limbs and maintain flexibilityAssists nursing staff with simple medical procedures such as suppositories, enemas, treatments, post-surgical care and post-mortem careAssists in monitoring physical and mental status of Veterans/Members by utilizing appropriate medical equipment and techniques to take vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations); obtain urine, sputum or stool samples; and track input/outputResponsible for medical record and worksheet documentation on all assigned Veterans/Members. Keeps records and prepares simple reportsAssists Veterans/Members with dining to include transporting to the dining room, informing them about menu choices available for the day, communicating dining staff about Veterans'/Members' choices and serves Veterans/Members their meals in courses, assisting them if necessaryProvides resident care and comfort by responding to patient requests (verbal or call light) for assistance timely in accordance with the Resident Bill of RightsMaintains cleanliness of areas neat and sanitary by changing bedding, linens and other itemsReports to and assists licensed nurses in emergency situations rapidly and appropriately following established policies and procedurePerforms other related duties such as transporting Veterans/Members to appointments outside the facility and clerical duties (e.g., answering phones, filing, etc.) as neededActively involved in AMS processes such Huddle Boards, Problem Solving, Job Breakdown Sheets, Success Tracking, and Standardized Work.Participates fully in the QAPI process, our Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program mandate by CMS which incorporates AMS Knowledge Of Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): Principles, practices and techniques of para-professional nursing care, treatment and services appropriate to the work settingState and agency laws and regulations governing para-professional nursing practicesPractices and procedures of using medical equipment in assigned dutiesPractices and procedures established for the work environmentPractices and techniques applied in maintaining a safe, orderly, therapeutic and hygienic environment Skills In Applying methods and techniques of para-professional nursing practicesApplying and interpreting State and agency laws and regulations governing para-professional nursing practicesUsing and maintaining medical equipmentApplying methods and techniques in maintaining a safe, orderly, therapeutic and hygienic environmentRecording, maintaining filing and retrieving medical recordsVerbal and written communication Ability To Establish and maintain effective work relationshipsLearn, implement, and monitor Arizona Management System (AMS) methods Selective Preference(s) One or more years of skilled nursing facility or long-term care experience preferred Pre-Employment Requirements Current or temporary certification to practice as a Certified Nurse Assistant in the State of ArizonaCurrent Negative TB skin test (Mantoux skin test) within the last twelve months or a written statement from a physician, physician’s assistant or a registered nurse practitioner indicating freedom from Tuberculosis, if in the past has had a positive skin test or TuberculosisMust be able to obtain and retain a fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public SafetyCurrent CPR card that was obtained by physical assessment If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements.
