About the role

This part-time, temporary position as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) supports day-to-day resident care and household activities at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home. You will assist licensed health care personnel in providing routine medical care in a household-type environment, engaging residents in activities, and performing basic resident care. The role offers flexible scheduling with openings for AM or PM shifts.

Pay

$19.33 to $21.00 per hour, depending on qualifications. Additional pay includes:

• $1.00 per hour shift differential for PM shifts
• $1.50 per hour weekend pay

Responsibilities

• Perform basic resident care and assist with personal hygiene needs
• Engage residents in household activities and events
• Assist licensed health care personnel in routine medical care
• Document resident care and report abnormal physical symptoms
• Follow established policies, procedures, and safety practices
• Use computers and data entry programs for care documentation
• Lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities such as squatting, kneeling, bending, and twisting

Requirements

• Must possess or obtain a South Dakota Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification within four months of hire
• Successful completion of a background investigation, abuse and neglect screening, and drug screening
• Must verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States (Form I-9 and E-Verify)
• Ability to communicate clearly, follow instructions, and exercise tact and discretion
• Basic arithmetic skills and proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
• Knowledge of resident safety procedures, hygiene requirements, and protective health measures
