About the role
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides individualized care to residents, ensuring they are comfortable, safe, and independent. Full-time, part-time plus, and part-time positions are available. The starting hourly rate is $19.00, increasing with experience.
Responsibilities
- Makes rounds to resident rooms at least every two hours to ensure resident needs are met, including toileting, turning, repositioning, and hydration.
- Makes walking rounds at shift change with the oncoming CNA to ensure rooms are tidy and in good condition, communicating any pertinent changes or issues.
- Checks care areas for tidiness, addressing any issues found.
- Observes and reports unusual symptoms or signs of illness or skin breakdown to the nurse in charge.
- Communicates shift priorities to the charge nurse and listens to the change of shift report.
- Provides care in accordance with the resident care profile and preferences, administering bed baths daily and showers twice per week.
- Distributes and sets up resident meal trays, assisting with meals and documenting intake.
- Performs daily and weekly personal care tasks, including oral hygiene, nail trimming, dressing, and toileting assistance.
- Positions residents properly using comfort and safety devices, repositioning bedridden residents every two hours.
- Takes vital signs according to resident plan of care, administers medications as assigned, and assists with bladder and bowel training.
- Makes rounds of incontinent residents, providing partial bathing and changing clothes and linens as needed.
- Answers resident call lights promptly, maintaining a response time of under four minutes, and assists with admissions, discharges, and post-mortem care.
- Documents care provided using MyUnity Point of Care daily.
- Ensures overall cleanliness of resident rooms, equipment, and bathrooms, making beds and returning items to proper places.
- Assists with transportation of residents, engaging them in daily activities, and participating in emergency operations scenarios.
- Reports damaged or unsafe equipment to the Charge Nurse and participates in in-services and drills.
- Supports new staff members by training them in proper policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Nurse Aide from the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Prior work experience as a Nurse Aide preferred.
- CDP (Certified Dementia Practitioner) designation and completion of Agape CNA Skills Review within the first 90 days of employment.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform duties in accordance with accepted methods and techniques.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to assist other licensed personnel as needed.
- Regular and safe lifting of a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Use of various health care equipment such as lifts, thermometers, and blood pressure cuffs.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods.

Schedule

$19.00/hr. - $26.00/hr., based on experience.
