Responsibilities

  • Provides basic nursing care to patients under the direction of a licensed nurse, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), vital sign measurement, and accurate documentation of patient data.
  • Maintains professional behavior and prioritizes workflow to ensure completion of all assigned duties while adhering to policies and procedures and promoting patient safety and confidentiality.
  • Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team, participates in staff meetings and training sessions, and notifies the licensed nurse of any patient concerns or issues.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of nursing procedures and proficiently uses medical supplies and equipment, ensuring their proper storage and cleaning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising nurse, such as assisting with patient care in different units and participating in the orientation of new staff members.
  • After a general orientation to medical-surgical and psychiatric patient care areas, may float between units to ensure adequate nursing staff for patient care areas in a correctional setting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a training course for Nursing Assistants.
  • Work requires knowledge of basic patient care methods, procedures, and techniques.
  • Ability to handle a variety of simple tasks that are routine in nature while keeping workflow orderly.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain clearance for a Public Trust Position, if working with specific patients.
  • Ability to express thoughts logically in English, both written and verbally.
  • Proficiency with computers and typical software such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and various database systems.
  • Current certification in the state of practice is required.
  • This position is available only to those who reside in the United States.
