Job Summary

Under the direction/supervision of an RN, this role provides basic and intermediate nursing care for an assigned group of patients based on competence. The position may qualify for a sign-on bonus.

Patient Care Units

  • General Nursing Units: care for patients from age 15 years to maturity by clinically competent nursing staff
  • Special Care Areas: care for patients 15 years through adult with high-risk conditions by clinically competent nursing staff
  • Maternal Child Units:
    • Labor and Delivery: care for patients who have a pregnancy-related condition by staff clinically competent in maternity care
    • Nursery: care for newborns until discharge by clinically competent staff
    • Pediatric: care for patients from neonate through age 18 by clinically competent staff
  • GI Lab Unit: cares for toddlers beginning at age 24 months through adult by clinically competent staff
  • Chemical Dependent Unit and Psychiatric Unit: cares for adult patients and families with a holistic approach to emotional problems by clinically competent nursing staff
  • Emergency Unit: provides care to presenting patients of all ages by clinically competent staff in pediatric high-risk adult care
  • Surgical Services: provides care to patients from neonate to geriatric

Completes established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High School Graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Nurse Aide, Medical Assistant, or intermediate or higher level Emergency Medical Technician program.
  • Preferred Education: Satisfactory completion of a nurse aide course, EMT, Paramedic, or Medical Assisting program.
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years of clinical experience (Inpatient, Emergency Department, or Skilled Nursing Unit).
  • Required Certifications/Licensure: Current Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Phlebotomist, or EKG Tech certification.
  • Required Courses/Completions: BLS obtained through an approved American Heart Association Training Center or the Military Training Network. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention obtained within 60 days of hire or transfer to position.
