Responsible for

  • providing residents with routine daily personal care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and plan of care as directed

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides personal care and activities of daily living (ADL’s) care to residents including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
  • Keeps residents rooms and resident care areas clean and neat
  • Participates in the orientation of new residents to facility
  • Documents care as instructed and required
  • Reports all changes in the resident’s condition (i.e., areas of redness, skin tears, bruising, mental status change, eating habits, etc.) to the charge nurse
  • Checks assigned residents routinely to ensure that his/her personal care needs are being met
  • Assists in transporting resident to/from dining room, therapy, activity and social programs, etc., as necessary
  • Makes sure to monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration and reports any changes in condition to the nursing staff
  • Encourages resident to participate in activity programs and assists as needed
  • Performs restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed
  • Aids in lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc., as necessary, utilizing appropriate techniques
  • Serves meals and assist with feeding as necessary
  • Responds to call lights and resident requests promptly and courteously
  • Performs other duties as directed and assume additional responsibilities as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Must possess a current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of Alabama or obtain certification within 120 days of hire
  • Experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
