About the Role

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a member of the community nursing team responsible for assisting professional nursing personnel by delivering direct hands-on nursing care to ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents daily. The CNA helps residents achieve the highest level of functioning while promoting a normal lifestyle.

Responsibilities

  • Perform or assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
  • Respond to residents' call lights to ensure comfort, safety, and privacy.
  • Transport residents by ambulation or wheelchair to community areas (dining room, lobby, activities).
  • Report significant findings or observations to the nurse immediately.
  • Assist residents during admission, transfer, and discharge for a smooth transition.
  • Safeguard residents’ personal possessions.
  • Maintain neat and safe resident rooms.
  • Follow proper infection control techniques.
  • Respect residents' rights, particularly privacy and confidentiality.
  • Re-teach residents ADL skills and provide restorative care to prevent pressure sores, contractures, and complications.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement and ensure follow-up.
  • Converse with residents and families to assist with adjustment to the community.
  • Ensure adequate hydration and nutrition; report deviations to the Charge Nurse promptly.
  • Accurately perform and record blood pressure, pulse, respirations, intake/output, and weights.

Requirements

  • Certified and state-tested as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of employment.
  • Active, valid, and in-good-standing CNA certificate.
