Position Summary
Principal Responsibilities
Participates in and receives nursing report upon reporting for duty and documents information accurately.
- Assists with lifting, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
- Assists residents in ambulation with or without self-help devices as instructed.
- Accurately measures and records temperatures, pulses, respirations, and blood pressures (TPRs and B/P) as instructed.
- Maintains cleanliness of resident units, central bathing area, treatment and supply rooms, workrooms, and linen closets; cleans bedpans, urinals, and commodes; washes basins and emesis basins; sanitizes bathtub after each resident’s use; cleans floors if resident is incontinent; wipes spilled foods and liquids.
- Advises charge nurse of resident(s) condition beginning and end of shift.
- Account for personal care (i.e. Grooming, bathing, catheter care, and dressing), and observation of residents within patient care guidelines. Identify and report any condition requiring management attention.
- Provides hydration to all residents according to center policy.
- Ensures all protected health information is kept confidential.
- Reports all allegations of resident abuse, neglect and/or misappropriation of resident property.
- Provides range of motion exercise.
- Serves food trays and assists with feeding as indicated.
- Delivers and documents all a.m., p.m., and bedtime snacks and supplements.
- Performs miscellaneous tasks as required by policy or nurse supervisor.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and pull/push; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance and 51-100 pounds with assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- This job operates in a professional office environment with minimal exposure to dust, chemicals, or noise.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
