About the role

On the Kaiser 7 West Acute Care Unit, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) works under the delegated authority of a registered nurse to perform nursing functions within their scope of practice and assist the nurse in collecting data for a nursing assessment under supervision. The CNA provides quality nursing care to patients; implements specific procedures and programs; coordinates work within the department and with other departments; reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; and assists the supervisor with tasks to support department operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (eating, bathing, dressing, mobility, toileting).
  • Support care procedures including catheter care, sitz baths, colostomy care, and more.
  • Apply care products such as compression devices and restraints appropriately.
  • Set up respiratory and cardiac equipment (e.g., oxygen, suction, EKGs, incentive spirometry).
  • Function in both CNA and Health Unit Coordinator roles as assigned.
  • Maintain current knowledge of nursing skills within scope of practice.
  • Use computer and audiovisual applications (Internet, email, word processing, wireless phone, pager) to obtain and retrieve data.

Requirements

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • BLS certification.
  • One year of hospital experience (preferred).
  • Effectively read, speak, write, compose, and comprehend English.
  • Effective eye and hand coordination.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize.
  • Ability to work well with individuals and groups.

Pay

$17.89 – $25.04 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
