Certified Nurse’s Aide, Full-Time, Day Shift, Long-Term Care

Job Summary

Blythedale Children's Hospital is a leading pediatric hospital dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate care. The Certified Nurse's Aide position assists in performing a variety of duties related to the physical care of patients.

Responsibilities

• Obtaining report of patient assignments from the RN at the start of the shift
• Providing meticulous care to each child
• Maintaining unit and patients’ rooms compliant with regulatory agency codes and standards
• Obtaining, recording, and reporting vital signs to RN
• Changing patients to and from various adaptive equipment as recommended/directed by the therapists or RN
• Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation
• Assisting with or performing treatment procedures that have been predetermined for each patient
• Feeding or assisting with feeding of patients during meals/snacks
• Assisting patients with diapering/toileting/showers as necessary
• Repositioning assigned patients to promote skin integrity, muscle tone, and maintain body alignment
• Maintaining excellent hand hygiene, adhering to precautions as required for each patient
• Maintaining professional boundaries and assisting the nurse during emergency situations

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• New York State Certified Nurse's Aid Certification
• Ability to perform physical activities for most of the time at work (standing, walking, and sitting)
• Weekend & Holiday commitment required
