Certified Nurse Midwife – West Union (1.0 FTE)
Emplify Health by Gundersen West Union is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife for a full-scope women’s health practice in West Union, IA. This role is part of a busy, Family Medicine practice that includes three clinics – West Union, Postville, and Fayette.
Our multidisciplinary Patient-Centered team integrates family medicine, OB services, and behavioral health. Deliveries take place at our hospital located in West Union.

West Union is a rural community in beautiful NE Iowa, serving as the county seat for Fayette County. Designated as a Green Main Street community, it offers many outdoor recreational opportunities, a wonderful school system, and a robust community. The population base for West Union and surrounding rural areas is approximately 21,000.
- State-of-the-art, full-service hospital attached to the clinic
- 25-bed Critical Access Hospital with a Level IV ER and a Level I Birthing Center
- Three Rural Health Clinics including Behavioral Health Services
- Home Health, Hospice, and Home Medical Equipment services
Responsibilities
- Provide full-scope women’s health care, including deliveries at the West Union hospital
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of family physicians, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and specialists
- Participate in outreach services as part of the system’s role
- Teach students, residents, fellows, or clinical staff as part of the Medical Education philosophy
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Certified Nurse Midwife program
- Eligibility to obtain a license to practice in a multi-state region with no restrictions or limitations
- Work under the direct supervision of a physician
