Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff, including taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, and changing linens
• Obtain and report information on patient condition as requested by nursing staff
• Perform other duties as assigned

Nurse Assistant Apprenticeship

Functions within a classroom and clinical learning environment to obtain training as unlicensed assistive personnel. During clinical rotations, responsibilities include:

• Providing basic patient care under the supervision of a clinical educator and nursing staff
• Taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, and changing linens
• Obtaining and reporting information on patient condition
• Completing a competency assessment at the end of training to validate learning

Requirements

Certified Nurse Assistant / Nurse Assistant

• Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent
• Required experience:
  • 3 months of experience as a nursing assistant in an inpatient or long-term care setting, EMT, or Surgical Technologist in the past 3 years, OR
  • Completion of an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel Program within the past 3 years, OR
  • Completion of the “fundamentals of nursing” course with clinical in an accredited nursing program or practical nursing education program, OR
  • Missouri CNA License, OR
  • Missouri CNA Appendix (with MO CNA license obtained within 120 days of hire)

Nurse Assistant Apprenticeship

• Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified Nurse Assistant, Nurse Assistant, or Nurse Assistant Apprentices are eligible to apply

Licensure/Certification

• BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire
