About the Role
As a Nurse Aide, you will assist with patient care throughout nursing areas under the direction of licensed personnel.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and document accordingly.
- Assist patient with feeding and/or meals as assigned and document accordingly.
- Assist patient with elimination needs as is appropriate and document accordingly.
- Answer alarm pendants and respond to residents'/patients' needs appropriately and promptly.
- Collect and document patient information as needed (including weights and vital signs). Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Provide restorative care per care plan and document accordingly.
- Assist with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly. Change linens of occupied/unoccupied beds.
- Demonstrate proper infection control practice and adhere to Infection Control Policies and Procedures and OSHA standards. Operate all equipment and perform all procedures/care in a safe manner. Report faulty and/or dangerous equipment as necessary.
- Assist in discharge process of patients to include transport, packing of personal belongings, and assistance with hygiene needs as requested. Provide for safe transport of patients through the institution. Take appropriate measures to escort patients into and out of the facility.
- Assist with postmortem care including transport to the morgue.
- Assist with orientation and training of others as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
PCA experience preferred.
Education and Licenses
- Preferred: High school diploma; PCA training program with Certificate or Nurse Aide educational program.
- Nursing Aides who have completed the required education but have not obtained state licensure will be in PCA role.
- Licenses: PCA certificate from PCA training program, or completion of Nurse Aide educational program.
Schedule
3x12, Nights (7p-7a), rotating weekends.
