Certified Medication Aide (Per Diem)
About the role
The Certified Medication Assistant (CMA) / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and accurate assistance of medications and providing hands-on support with activities of daily living. This dual-certified position collaborates with nursing and caregiving teams to support a person-centered care environment.
Responsibilities
- Assists with medication and provides treatments according to physician's orders and facility policy.
- Maintains resident rooms in a clean and orderly manner by performing light housekeeping tasks.
- Provides direct care and assistance with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, mobility, and feeding.
- Attends and participates in facility meetings and in-service training programs.
- Practices good infection control techniques in all aspects of resident care.
- Prepares residents for meals, assists with serving meals, and feeds residents.
- Observes residents and promptly reports changes in condition, behavior, or functional status.
- Safeguards the resident’s privacy and property.
- Participates in the orientation of new or temporary staff to the unit to ensure continuity in the delivery of resident care.
- Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members, and guests.
- Provides restorative care to residents as assigned by the Nurse or as indicated in the overall plan of care.
- Aids with admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Communicates clearly and concisely with staff and others.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medication Aide (CMA)
- CPR Certification
- Experience: 0-1 Years
- Knowledge: Various medications, privacy regulations, record-keeping skills, communication skills, infection control techniques, resident care procedures
- Physical Requirements: Standing, sitting, talking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, operating various equipment, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling light to moderate amounts of weight up to 100 lbs, hearing, vision, etc.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Preferred: Relevant Certificates (CNA, CMA)
Skills
- Effective communication with residents and healthcare professionals
- Knowledge of various medications, their purposes, dosages, routes of administration, and potential side effects
- Knowledge of privacy regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Record-keeping skills to document medication administration and patient responses accurately
- Ability to educate patients about their medications

Compensation Pay Range: $15.28 - $20.34 per hour
