Certified Medication Aide
About the role
You provide individualized attention and encourage residents to maintain or attain their highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. You administer, instruct, and monitor resident medications and report to the director of nursing.
Responsibilities
- Administer, instruct, and monitor resident medications
- Take vital signs, residents' weights, apply creams/ointments, collect specimens
- Lift, move, and transport residents, using proper body mechanics or lifting devices to prevent accidents
- Attend to the resident's needs, including grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, colostomy care, prosthetic appliances, transferring, ambulation, range of motion, communication
- Ensure individualized care plans are followed and provide care planning staff with specific information, changes, and observations of the residents' needs and preferences
- Document care in keeping with department policies
Requirements
- OSBN CMA license in the state of Oregon is required
- Currently possess a CMA certification in the state of employment
- Can obtain CPR/BLS card
- Read, write, speak, and understand English
- Follow prescribed safety and infection control procedures
- Have compassion and interest in working with the senior population
- Communicate and interact tactfully with others
