Certified Medication Aide

About the Role

Responsible for safely administering medications and treatments to residents. This position requires accurate documentation on medication records and resident charts, and a responsible demeanor to ensure resident confidence in medication administration. Must act within scope of practice and seek management assistance when unsure.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments according to scheduled times and protocol.
• Document on 24-hour communication reports and resident records, including resident alert status.
• Implement interim service plans in the absence of the Charge Nurse or Unit Manager, and communicate changes to caregivers.
• Notify Charge Nurse or Unit Manager of resident changes in condition.
• Assist with monthly medication records, cycle fill, or re-ordering of medications.
• Return medications for credit and monitor pharmacy deliveries for discrepancies.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and supply levels of the medication room and cart.
• Demonstrate proper technique for using equipment such as gait belts, lifts, transfer boards, catheters, wheelchairs, and scales.
• Take accurate vital signs and weights, and initiate medication error reports if necessary.
• Fill in as a Certified Nursing Assistant when needed, including lifting residents up to 40 pounds.
• Assist with meal service, including setting tables and post-meal clean-up.
• Order medications via fax and follow up on delayed deliveries.
• Respond to call lights or ensure a partner responds if occupied.
• Assist residents with transportation and appointments as needed.
• Review 24-hour communication books, incident reports, and interim care plans.
• Perform general record keeping and filing.

Requirements

• Current, active, and unrestricted Certified Medication Aide Certification.
• CPR certification.
• Some high school education; high school graduate preferred.
• On-the-job training provided; previous experience preferred but not required.
• Familiarity and willingness to work with the elderly population.

Schedule

Full-time, variable shift.

Primary location: Georgia-Albany (PruittHealth - Palmyra).
