About the role
The Certified Medication Assistant (CMA) / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of residents. This dual-certified position involves assisting with medication administration and providing hands-on care for activities of daily living.
Responsibilities
- Assist with medication administration and provide treatments under the supervision of a nurse.
- Maintain resident rooms in a clean and orderly manner through light housekeeping tasks.
- Provide direct care and support for activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, mobility, and feeding.
- Attend and participate in facility meetings and in-service training programs.
- Practice good infection control techniques and observe residents for changes in condition, behavior, or functional status.
- Prepare residents for meals, assist with serving meals, and feed residents as needed.
- Ensure residents' privacy and property are safeguarded.
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with staff and residents.
- Document medication administration and patient responses accurately.
- Participate in the orientation of new or temporary staff.
- Promote positive public relations with residents, family members, and guests.
- Perform restorative care as assigned by the Nurse or as part of the overall plan of care.
- Operate various equipment safely and efficiently.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Certified Medication Aide (CMA)
- CPR certification
- Experience: 0-1 years
- Knowledge: Various medications, privacy regulations, record-keeping, communication, infection control, and resident care
- Physical Requirements: Standing, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 100 lbs, operating various equipment, hearing, vision, and manual dexterity
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Preferred: Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Certified Medication Aide (CMA)
- Experience: 0-1 years
- Skills: Effective communication, knowledge of medications, privacy regulations, record-keeping, infection control, and resident care
- Physical Abilities: Standing, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 100 lbs, operating various equipment, hearing, vision, and manual dexterity

Pay
The pay range for this position is $19.13 - $25.43 per hour. The actual pay may vary based on job-related qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and consideration of internal and external equity.
