Responsibilities
- Serve as the Medical Director for skilled nursing facilities/rehabs and participate in administrative and quality initiatives.
- Attend and participate in monthly quality assurance/regulatory meetings and quarterly staff meetings.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, provide guidance to facility staff, oversee clinical care plans, comply with state and federal regulations, and supervise facility clinical staff.
- Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners to manage the daily care for each resident at each facility.
Qualifications
- Hold a valid medical license in the state of practice.
- Hold a Certified Medical Director Certification in the state of Maryland.
- Hold a valid DEA/Controlled Substance License in the state of practice.
- Complete a valid U.S. residency program.
- Have completed a medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Be a licensed driver.
- Have effective communication skills with the geriatric or Medicare population.
- Have excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Be proficient in using email, the internet, and learning other healthcare-related software.
Physical Requirements
- Be able to move inside a facility frequently and walk briskly to see patients, meet with managers/facility staff, and attend to patient needs.
- Be able to document in an EMR system on a laptop computer.
- Be able to ascend and descend stairs in a facility.
- Have some ability to position oneself to obtain records, tools, medical equipment, and other items that may be in locations that are below the knee or above the shoulder.
- Be able to effectively communicate with patients, nurse practitioners, and facility staff in English.
- Be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
