About the role
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a crucial role in the Wound Care Clinic at CHI Saint Joseph Health System in Lexington, Kentucky. The clinic is part of the larger CommonSpirit Health network, which is dedicated to improving the health of the communities it serves.
Responsibilities
- Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
- Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider.
- Obtain and record vital signs including but not limited to, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.
- May be required to collect urine drug specimens, draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topically, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or nasal administration.
- May perform routine tests including but not limited to EKGs.
Requirements
- High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or High School GED General Studies, upon hire and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program and Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, upon hire or Certified Medical Assistant AAMA, upon hire or Certified Medical Assistant NHA, upon hire or National Certified Medical Assistant NCCT, upon hire or National Registered/Certified Medical Assistant NAHP, upon hire or Registered Medical Assistant AMT, upon hire or Registered Medical Assistant, upon hire or Cert Med Asst - MMCI, upon hire and Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire.
Preferred
- Two year medical assistant experience.
