About the role
We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients at Duke Women's Health Heritage in Wake Forest, NC.
Responsibilities
- Take medical histories and record vital signs, charge posting, order entry.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures; perform bladder scans, void trials, catheterizations.
- Document and communicate pertinent information.
- Assist the physician during the examination and procedures.
- Collect/prepare laboratory and blood specimens; perform Point of Care laboratory tests.
- Sterilize medical instruments using High Level Disinfection and Autoclave as appropriate.
- Review medical and surgical instructions with patients and/or caregivers, and document in patient record.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
- Daily clinic preparation process – QC and safety checks.
- Monitor and/or order clinic supplies, fill out insurance and FMLA forms.
- Perform other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician.
Requirements
- Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
- High school or GED graduation required.
- Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
- BLS required.
Schedule
Day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
