About the role

The role involves performing basic nursing skills and serving under the direction and supervision of the practice physician, advanced practice professional, and/or registered nursing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms;
  • Prepares for provider visits by obtaining initial information and vital signs;
  • Prepares exam rooms for patients with attention to cleanliness and availability of supplies;
  • Auxiliaries with and/or performs exams, tests, and procedures;
  • Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed;
  • Auxiliaries with providers during patient examinations and procedures;
  • Edicates patients on follow-up expectations;
  • Maintains quality control testing logs as required;
  • Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition;
  • Auxiliaries patients with completion of medical documentation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date;
  • Current National Certification as Certified Medical Assistant.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program;
  • One (1) year of healthcare experience.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

The core duties and responsibilities include greeting and escorting patients to exam rooms, preparing for provider visits, assisting with and/or performing exams, tests, and procedures, scheduling appointments and setting up referral contacts, educating patients on follow-up expectations, maintaining quality control testing logs, ensuring medical equipment is in proper working condition, assisting patients with medical documentation, and working closely with others, protracted or irregular hours, around biohazards, around infectious diseases, with hands in water, and may be required to travel between facilities.

Physical Requirements

  • MEDIUM WORK - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly;
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach and be capable of normal rotation, standing and walking for an 8-12 hour shift.

Working Environment

  • Working closely with others;
  • Working protracted or irregular hours;
  • Working around biohazards;
  • Working around infectious diseases;
  • Working with hands in water;
  • May be required to travel between facilities.
