About the Role

Work as a member of a strong team to provide care for the comfort and well-being of patients. Administers medications, changes dressings, and provides wound care as well as liaison between providers and patients. Documents care delivery, patient condition, reaction, and progress. Provides patient education, especially in regard to pharmaceuticals, and supports the business goals of the practice.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications and provide wound care
  • Serve as liaison between providers and patients
  • Document care delivery, patient condition, reaction, and progress
  • Provide patient education, particularly regarding pharmaceuticals
  • Support the business goals of the practice

Requirements

  • Graduate/Certification from one of the following:
    • AAMA - American Association of Medical Assistants – Certified Medical Assistant (CMA credential)
    • AMT - American Medical Technologists - Registered Medical Assistant (RMA credential)
    • ARMA - American Registry of Medical Assistants - (ARMA credential)
    • NCCT - National Center for Competency Testing - National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA credential)
    • AMCA - American Medical Certification Association - Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC credential)
    • NHA - National Healthcareer Association - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA credential)
  • Must have and maintain a current certification
  • BLS Certification required within 90 days of employment

Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years experience working in an ambulatory clinic (preferred)
  • Ability to function in a high stress, physically demanding setting

Working Conditions

  • In contact with patients and families during working hours
  • Uses electrical biomedical machines and equipment
  • Exposure to chemicals and cleaning agents (minimal)
  • Exposure to biological hazards and patients with infectious diseases (moderate)
  • OSHA Category: Potential for exposure to blood or body fluids
