Certified Medical Assistant - Primary Care

About the role

Novant Health Primary Care Poplar Tent clinic is hiring a Full‑Time Certified Medical Assistant. The CMA is to coordinate and assist the provider to ensure safe, quality‑ and cost‑effective service and care for the people within the practice population.

Responsibilities

• Partner with providers to deliver outstanding patient care and support efficient clinic operations.
• Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, medical histories, and updating electronic medical records.
• Perform clinical procedures within scope of practice, including injections, immunizations, medication administration, EKGs, point‑of‑care testing, and specimen collection.
• Coordinate patient flow to ensure timely, efficient visits while maintaining a positive patient experience.
• Assist with prescription refills, referrals, prior authorizations, and follow‑up care.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries (CMA‑AAMA, CCMA‑NHA, RMA‑AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NAHP, AAH) required; if not currently certified, must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of hire and sign an education agreement.
• Previous work in a medical office preferred.
• Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required.
• Refer to Life Support Training Policy NH‑HR‑3096.
• Current state driver’s license required (for Palliative Care only).
• Ability to successfully complete generic and department‑specific skills validation and competency testing.

Schedule

Monday‑Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm.
