The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) interviews and initiates care for patients who visit our clinics and plays key roles in the care provided, up to and including specimen collection and delivery of test results.

Pardee BlueMD UNC Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center organized as a partnership between Pardee UNC Health Care and Blue Ridge Health. Spread across 12 individual locations in Western North Carolina, this partnership is specifically structured to allow our care team to reduce gaps in care, create a more seamless delivery model, and improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients to collect and document history of present illness (HPI), medication reconciliation, and history of allergies.
• Performs vital sign measurement and any standard testing per clinic procedures.
• Coordinates and performs follow‑on procedures as directed by a provider, including but not limited to onsite testing, specimen collection, and wound care.
• Assists with provider‑performed procedures such as suture application or splints.
• Communicates with patients in a timely and effective manner regarding their care; notifies patients of test and lab results.
• Patiently and clearly explains practice policies and procedures using cultural competency and active listening.
• Documents care into electronic medical recordkeeping system (EMR); ensures completion of necessary documentation and forms.
• Collects and prepares testing specimens as needed for transport to offsite laboratory.
• Maintains and monitors consumable supplies and medications for effective ongoing clinical operations.
• Promotes a safe, clean, and secure clinical environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control.

Requirements

• Must hold a current Medical Assistant certification. Accepted credentials:
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • Medical Assistant (NCMA) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
• Must hold current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to lift supplies and equipment regularly and navigate clinical area actively throughout work.

Qualifications

• Prior work experience in a clinical setting (preferred).

Schedule

Full‑time, 40 hours per week, onsite, day shift. Location: JUSTICE MOB (712 Fleming Street). Position is non‑exempt from overtime. Legal employer: Pardee – HCHC; Entity: Pardee UNC Health Care; Organization Unit: PBMD.
