Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Aid physicians and staff in preparing patients for visits and completing assessments.
- Update and document all patient information, including medications, allergies, and family history.
- Perform and document various office procedures such as EKC, eye exams, blood collection, immunizations, injections, diagnostic tests, wound care, treatments, etc.
- Triage calls to assess patient urgency and determine appropriate next steps.
- Provide patient instructions and educational materials.
- E-prescribe medications according to practice protocols or physician discretion, and complete tasks in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Carry out venipunctures and process laboratory specimens according to standard procedures.
- Conduct laboratory analyses accurately and efficiently, using both automated and manual methods.
- Maintain comprehensive technical knowledge across pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory phases.
- Show proficiency in maintaining this knowledge through performance, troubleshooting, specimen handling, test result review, and intervention as needed.
- Stay updated on necessary laboratory equipment and ensure its proper calibration, quality control, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Work towards upholding the organization's mission, vision, and values.
Job Qualifications
- High school education required.
- Post-secondary education with certifications as Medical Assistant (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant (AMT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMMA) preferred.
