Career Summary
MUSC Children’s Health After Hours Care Mt. Pleasant is a pediatric outpatient clinic that provides walk-in After Hours Care to serve the community during non-traditional hours. The clinic operates alongside specialty clinics that are open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.
Responsibilities
- Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, perform multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.
- For Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs): Room patients, take vitals, document in an electronic medical record, give injections, and assist with minor procedures.
- For Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs): Provide quality patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed healthcare provider, including rooming patients, taking vitals, and documenting in an electronic medical record.
Requirements
- CMAs: High school diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- LPNs: Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program and licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Qualifications
- CMAs: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred. Basic computer skills required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Annual competencies are required to be maintained.
- LPNs: Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program and licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy.
- Ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of therapeutic procedures.
- Able to make accurate physical observations of patients.

Pay
