CAN Community Health is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) I / Medical Front Desk Receptionist. Sign-on bonus available for applications submitted through August 31, 2026.

Schedule

  • Full-Time | Day Shift
  • Monday–Thursday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
  • Friday: 8:30 am – 12:30 pm
  • Extended Hours (bi-monthly rotating schedule): Weekday 10:00 am – 8:00 pm; Weekend 8:30 am – 12:30 pm

Pay

$23.27 – $26.76 hourly based on experience

About the role

Join a professional team dedicated to serving individuals impacted by HIV, Hepatitis C, STIs, and other infectious diseases. This position combines medical-assistant duties, front-desk reception, and phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

Medical Assistant – Primary Tasks

  • Perform medical intake procedures including vital signs and history
  • Conduct complete patient evaluation and assessment
  • Record and report symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient conditions
  • Administer immunizations as directed by the physician
  • Practice safe phlebotomy using standard precautions

Front Desk – Primary Tasks

  • Greet and assist patients with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Accurately collect, process, and post patient payments (co-pays, deductibles, outstanding balances)
  • Verify and update patient insurance information and eligibility during check-in
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments; manage follow-up for missing documentation

Phlebotomy Tasks

  • Perform venipuncture and fingerstick on all patients as ordered
  • Identify patients using two unique identifiers and verify test orders prior to specimen collection
  • Prepare collection sites using aseptic technique and select appropriate collection equipment
  • Label specimens accurately at the point of collection
  • Process, centrifuge, and prepare specimens for transport or analysis according to laboratory protocols

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
  • Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA) required or ability to achieve certification within 6 months of hire
  • CPR certification required
  • 1+ years of experience in a clinical setting preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have valid insurance and driver’s license
  • Must pass Level I and Level II background checks
