Job Duties

  • Take patient's vital signs.
  • Prepare patients for the provider's care.
  • Auxiliary in patient examinations or treatments.
  • Correctly document all entries in the medical record, including signature, date, and time.
  • Administer medication as directed by and under the direct supervision of a licensed physician.
  • Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms.
  • Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
  • Administer basic first aid.
  • Participate in performance improvement projects.
  • Participate as an active care team member in the coordination of patient care.
  • Provide a standard of excellence as it relates to customer service for patients, staff members, and other customers.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • One year Medical assistant preferred.
  • Two years Clerical/customer service experience - ideally in a health care related industry preferred.
  • One year Experience with third party payors and computer experience for inputting data and reviewing patient demographic material preferred.

Education Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification is required within six months.
  • A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required at the time of hire.
  • A Medical Terminology Certificate is preferred at the time of hire.

Additional Details

A requirement of having completed an MA program that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, a national or state medical association, or an agency approved by the board.
