About the role

The Woodlands Cancer Center is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our dedicated team. This position offers a dynamic environment where you can contribute to patient care and support the clinical operations of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with examinations, diagnostic and treatment procedures
  • Document all diagnostic measurements, treatments and procedures in the patient's electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Follow up with patients to ensure compliance with recommendations, medications, lab/x-ray results, and other appointments
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examinations and assist with maintaining equipment and supplies
  • Report observations, conditions, and problems to the physician or nurse to achieve desired patient outcomes
  • Stock exam rooms and take inventory of resources
  • Participate in performance improvement projects and professional development activities

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of Medical Assistant experience in a clinic/outpatient setting or one year in the Novice-II position
  • BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA)
  • Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT
  • CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA)

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.)
  • Two years of Medical Assistant experience in a clinic/outpatient setting or one year in the Novice-II position
  • BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA)
  • Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT
  • CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA)

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers
  • Knowledge of medical practice and care of patients and ability to assist with examinations, diagnostic and treatment procedures
  • Skilled in developing and maintaining clinical quality assurance to maintain accurate medical records
  • Demonstrates a learning attitude toward solving problems, using good reasoning and judgment
  • Provides safe patient-centered, compassionate and competent care
  • Proficient in computer skills for documentation and work-related purposes

Pay

$20.00 - $25.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications
