Certified Medical Assistant / Business Associate, Float Pool, Full Time, Day
About the Role
Under the direction of the physician, Charge RN, or Manager, this position performs direct clinical and front desk activities in a courteous, caring, and respectful manner. Responsibilities include patient intake, blood draws, pharmacy calls, EKGs, and other tests required by the physician, as well as essential front desk duties such as greeting, registering patients, ensuring insurance compliance, and collecting payments. The role involves accurately documenting in an EMR system, maintaining the daily patient schedule, and coordinating with clinical staff to ensure proper workflow and patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform direct clinical activities, including patient intake, blood draws, pharmacy calls, EKGs, and other physician-ordered tests.
- Accurately document patient information in an EMR system in accordance with licensure and VMG policy.
- Greet, register, and check in patients in a courteous and respectful manner.
- Ensure insurance compliance and collect appropriate payments at the time of service.
- Maintain the daily patient schedule and answer incoming calls to schedule appointments, handle medication refills, or direct inquiries of a clinical or billing nature.
- Coordinate with clinical staff to address special patient needs and ensure proper patient flow.
- Support the practice and professional staff as directed by the Practice Manager.
- Maintain close working relationships with all practice staff to ensure efficient workflow, care, and treatment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program recognized by the State of New Jersey; certification required.
- Completion of formal coursework in office management, database management, or business.
- Previous Medical Assistant experience in a clinic, physician’s office, or outpatient setting preferred.
- Six months of previous customer service, data entry, administrative, office management, or clerical experience required.
Qualifications
- Current and valid certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) recognized by the Board of Examiners (e.g., AMT, AAMA, NCCT).
- BCLS certification preferred upon hire; will be required.
- Understanding of medical practice operations preferred.
- Strong orientation toward providing high-quality, cost-effective, and comprehensive medical care.
- Ability to use effective organizational and time management skills to set priorities and respond to urgent situations.
- Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills to convey information clearly to diverse age groups and customers.
- Ability to create, maintain, and support a high-functioning team and foster cooperative working relationships.

Pay
Starting salary and benefits are in accordance with role, experience, education, and licensure. The pay range for this position is $22.99 - $28.74 per hour.
Schedule
Day shift (United States of America). Position may require rotating to other VMG locations from time to time when necessary.
