About the Role

The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for providing information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services. May be assigned to a specific medical specialty department (e.g., orthopedics).

Requirements

• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
• Medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course in medical assisting
• If not yet a CMA, you will receive all hours required for the CMA exam; Hendrick Health will cover the fee for the first exam
• Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office
• Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection current experience
• Certified Medical Assistant within 26 months of hire
• Current CPR certification

Skills & Knowledge

• Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures
• Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical practice
