Certified Lactation Consultant (RN, IBCLC) - Family Birthing Center (Per Diem)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• One (1) year experience as International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
• Current unrestricted license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut
• Current certification as International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
• Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
• Multilingual preferred

Responsibilities

Provides support, education and information regarding breastfeeding to patients and families.

Aids in the establishment of lactation and resolution of breastfeeding difficulties.

Develops care plans with staff to meet patient’s individual needs.

Provides follow-up through phone calls or private consultations in an inpatient or outpatient setting.

Shares information and education regarding breastfeeding with all appropriate staff.

Aids in the development of policies and protocols.

Collaborates with the members of the lactation team in the Backus Hospital as well as throughout the system.
