Certified Instructor Coordinator

About the Role

The Certified Instructor Coordinator at Empress Emergency Medical Services EMS Academy is responsible for the instructional development of Academy Students, preparing them through education and training for the New York State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) State Exam. Under the direction of the Course Sponsor and the Director of Clinical Education, the instructor will organize, administer, and evaluate the training curriculum in accordance with New York State guidelines and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Ensures course content follows New York State requirements, guidelines, and protocols.
• Prepares and develops course content, including lesson plans and teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, and multimedia visual aids.
• Attends all course sessions and provides lectures or conducts/co-conducts training sessions as needed.
• Participates in scheduling and coordinating classes, training sessions, supplemental courses, and evaluation meetings.
• Tests and evaluates students to measure learning progress and effectiveness of training presentations, in accordance with New York State requirements.
• Provides trainees with information about course policies, feedback on performance, access to remedial help, and counseling as needed.
• Maintains records of trainee enrollment, attendance, and performance.
• Submits trainee records to the Course Sponsor Administrator (CSA) upon course completion or request.
• Acts as liaison between trainees, CSA, clinical preceptors, and the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Current New York State Certification (EMT-B or EMT-P) and current CPR Certification.
• Satisfactory completion of the pre-employment process, including drug screening and background check.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 19 years of age.

Work Environment

Works primarily indoors in a classroom setting with occasional exposure to outside, hazardous conditions, blood/body fluids, fumes/odors, and temperature changes. Requires respirator use and extended workdays. Frequently interacts face-to-face with others and may be exposed to noise, mechanical, and electrical equipment.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
• Frequently stands, walks, sits, climbs, balances, steps, stoops, kneels, or crouches.
• Must frequently lift and/or carry up to 125 pounds unassisted and up to 300 pounds as part of a two-person crew.
• Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay

Hourly wage of $40.00.
