Job Description

Administers prescribed medication via inhalation and oxygen therapy according to physician orders and departmental protocols.

Maintains Autopaps for use.

Cleans and stocks respiratory equipment regularly.

Participates in Code Blue and Rapid Response Team activities.

Administers non-invasive therapy for patients of all age groups, from infants to geriatrics.

Provides clerical assistance as required by the department.

• Assists with patient transports requiring respiratory intervention.
• Maintains intubation boxes.
• Performs peripheral intravenous line insertion.
• Paces interrogations as needed.
• Performs setup of Holter monitors, electrocardiograms, cardiac stress tests, and exercise oximetry as ordered.

Requirements

• Must possess good verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions independently.
• Knowledge of outpatient hospital services.
• Ability to work closely with physicians.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge, training and experience in hyperbaric chamber maintenance and minor repair.
• Operational knowledge of NFPA99, gas handling, Hyperbaric Safety Codes, PVHOI and 2 CGA and other safety related Guidelines.
• High School Grad or Equiv.
• Vocational/Technical School.
• Completion of a 40 hour Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine Society (UHMS) or National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Technology (NBDHMT) approved Hyperbaric Medicine Introductory Course.
• 1+ year of clinical hyperbaric experience.
• Direct Patient care experience in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT).
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS).
